Dear Church Family,

34 years ago today, I was standing outside Candlestick Park at the concession stand waiting for Game 3 of the World Series between the Giants and A's.  All of a sudden, I felt rumbling under my feet.  I thought it must be the fans stomping their feet as the players came out for pre-game introductions.  Then I realized....you can't move cement like that just by the stomping of feet............
In the next few seconds as I looked up at the swaying stadium above my head I asked God, "Is this going to be it?".  Kathy was inside the stadium at field level and under the second deck, unlikely to be able to escape if it did come down.  Our children, 4 and 3 at the time, were at home in Antioch with a babysitter. But no, that wasn't it.
And here we are today, 34 years later and I still ask God each day, "is today going to be it?".

"But of that day and hour, nobody knows, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only."  Matthew 24:36 (NKJV)  

Our role is not to speculate.  Our role is to be ready and help others do the same by spreading the "Good News".
So God willing, here is what is going on at the church this week!

TONIGHT!  Tuesday, October 17th - Our Weekly Prayer Meeting from 6-7pm.  Come join us for a time of sharing and prayer for our church and community.

Thursday, October 19th - The Copperopolis Community Food Pantry will be having it's monthly distribution at the church from 1-4pm.   Clients and volunteers welcome!   If you'd like to volunteer, we will be working from 10am to 4:30pm, but come by any time!
 

Sunday, October 22^nd – Children’s Ministries Volunteer meeting.   Right after church, a group meeting to review the program, answer questions, raise questions, etc.  If you have signed up for this ministry, please plan to attend.  

Garage Sale, October 22^nd following the service – This is to help clean out the space across the parking lot.  There are some miscellaneous supplies, tools, etc. that we are making available to the congregation if there is any interest.  There are no prices marked, we just ask that you keep in mind these are God’s supplies and His money, so just provide what He would have you pay.  

Baptisms!  October 22^nd right after the service .  We have two believers who are taking the next step in obedience to our Lord and Savior in the step of baptism.  There is still time to sign up if you would also like to be baptized that day so please respond to this email if you’re interested.  

Our second quarterly church business meeting will be held on October 29^th , to begin 15 minutes after the conclusion of the service.  

This going to be a very important and informative meeting where we will discuss;  

• Our attendance and giving numbers for the 3^rd quarter  
• Current events going on at the church.  
• A very important update from the Pastoral Search Committee.  

I can’t stress enough how important it is that everyone try to make these once a quarter meetings.  This is where we have an opportunity for not only you to hear what’s going on, but also a forum for you to ask any questions that you may have.
