People often say that life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans. Perhaps that is nowhere more clear than in the process of growing old. One day we are young and living our life like it will go on forever. The next day we are old and wondering what we do now.
The Transitions Ministry is focused on people who are in or are moving into their elderly years, and on those who love and care for them. No one is born knowing how to deal with being elderly, but we can learn how to deal with it. The purpose of the Transitions Ministry is to help people learn how to be and care for the elderly.
Many people can contribute to our understanding of old age, and there are a lot of resources that can help us handle it more gracefully. The Transitions Ministry will meet for two hours on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at Lake Tulloch Bible Church beginning at 11:00 a.m.
At each meeting there will be a speaker who can discuss a topic relevant to the Mission Statement. Membership in the church is not required to attend the meetings, which are for the benefit of all people in Copperopolis and surrounding areas. A free lunch will be provided for all who attend.
The Transitions Ministry will be overseen by Associate Pastor Jedidiah Smith with the assistance of volunteers. Speakers will be people who have personal or professional knowledge that may help others understand and deal with the elderly and the transition to old age. Questions and discussion will be encouraged, and ideas for relevant topics are welcome.
