BLOOD BANK OF SONORA
by DeDe Mustill RN | February 18, 2016For the past few years, I have stopped by the Delta Blood Bank in Sonora to donate blood. Having transfused patients in my practice as a nurse, I understand the importance of having a ready supply of blood available at any given time. Without this life giving source, many would suffer and even die. Thankfully, our local blood bank is there to supply those needs.
The blood bank depends on the generosity of its donors to stay in a constant state of readiness.
The process to become a donor is simple: Complete a questionnaire to determine suitability, followed by a short interview with a nurse to determine blood type and hemoglobin level. The blood draw is then done and the whole process is usually under an hour from start to finish. In appreciation for your donation, loyalty points are given and the points can be used for free gifts.
I encourage you to become a blood donor. Your donation can become a precious gift of life to someone in need.
